Young Living’s Hand Crafted Chocolate:
Young Living’s combines artisan hand-picked red cacao beans
that are are shade-dried for nine full days and then delicately roasted
at low temperatures (50 degrees Celsius/122 degrees Fahrenheit) for 40 mins
ensuring that the highest antioxidant (preserving the natural ingredients,
such as vitamin C) levels are maintained.
In contrast, conventional cacao is roasted at 122 C for 30 minutes
which destroys all antioxidant activity. Cacao is high in Gallic
acid and Catechins. Dark chocolate increases the blood flow to the
skin and reduces roughness and protects sun damage. Cocoa may reduce
blood pressure.
Yacon
Yacon is used to sweeten the chocolate bars. Yacon is high fiber and low sugar
perennial plant. It is sometimes called apple of the earth or “ground apple”
because its texture and flavour is similar to that of a fresh apple.
The Young Living farm in Ecuador produces enough Yacon for small
product runs and research. Yacon has shown promise as a powerful
antioxidant which may help prevent colon cancer and osteoporosis.
Yacon leaves are distilled to produce an essential oil which stops
the development of detrimental organisms in the colon.
It also has been shown to reduce fat and triglycerides in the blood.
Yacon has many of the same attributes, but in greater measure, of green
tea, ellagic acid and alpha-tocopherals.
Yacon may also help prevent type 2 diabetes.
It also stimulates an increased fat burning metabolic function.
